Mystic Moon

People have asked us why we chose the name Mystic Moon for our boat.  I must say, choosing any name for a boat is a daunting task -- as so many have pointed out, one becomes known by one's boat name.  No longer are we John and Kathy Youngblood.....we will hereafter be known as "John and Kathy on Mystic Moon", or even as "The Mooners" as some of our friends refer to us, or, as some of our other verbally adroit friends call us "The Luna-tics", and Jerry, (so sorry, my man-- can't even go there!) and then there was the 3 boat "Fellowship of the Lunar Cheesecake"....well, you see how easily one can have issues and the difficulty involved! (especially when cruisers have waaayyy too much time on their hands, Mark & Roseanne!)

At any rate, it was innocent enough (Jerry!) and really quite simple....

We have long been fans of Van Morrison and his "Into The Mystic" and well, being a Selene (and a goddess of the Moon).....it was just a natural --

        Selene meets Van Morrison....

"
We were born before the wind
Also younger than the sun
Ere the bonnie boat was won as we sailed into the mystic
Hark, now hear the sailors cry
Smell the sea and feel the sky
Let your soul and spirit fly into the mystic

And when that fog horn blows I will be coming home
And when that fog horn blows I want to hear it
I don’t have to fear it
I want to rock your gypsy soul
Just like way back in the days of old
Then magnificently we will float into the mystic

And when that fog horn blows you know I will be coming home
And when that fog horn whistle blows I got to hear it
I don’t have to fear it
I want to rock your gypsy soul
Just like way back in the days of old
And together we will float into the mystic
Come on girl..."
